Welfare Inventory of Human Services "Making Connections"
As a way of matching resources with needs, Fresno Metro Ministry annually compiles, publishes, and distributes "Making Connections Community Resource Directory." The 100 plus page directory provides a listing of the services provided by non-profit and governmental agencies. The directory is organized by type of service, such as food, housing, youth, health, and other categories. Hours of service, languages spoken, and a summary of the type of help the organization can offer is included.

Approximately 4,000 copies are distributed. One free copy is provided to each organization listed in the directory. Additional copies are available at $4 to $5 each, plus postage. The new edition is ready from early to late spring.

The Directory is well utilized by school personnel, health care workers, social workers, police officers, clergy, community based organizations, government departments, and many others.

Welfare Reform
Metro Ministry organized four major conferences and eight task groups in the early days of Welfare Reform. Metro does not currently have any activity specifically geared to welfare reform, but continues to be committed that all the people in our community should have the basic food, shelter, health care, and positive relationships they need. Many of its current programs overlap with welfare reform issues.
