The Community Health Care Roundtables are a part of the health care program at Fresno Metro Ministry that provides an opportunity for members of the Fresno area community to collaborate and problem-solve around specific health care access and public health issues. Below you will find information regarding the time & location of the Roundtables, participants involved, themes, notes & evaluations for all previous Roundtables available for download, as well as sponsorship information. The agenda for next month's Roundtable can be downloaded in the box above as soon as it becomes available.

The Roundtables are sponsored by Fresno Metro Ministry's Local Health Care Coalition and take place on the third Thursday of every month from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3973 N. Cedar, Fresno, California (between Ashlan and Dakota on the West Side of Cedar). Complimentary continental breakfast is always included, and there is no charge for participation.

RoundtablesThe Local Health Care Coalition held their first Community Health Care Roundtable in September of 1997 to discuss the Medi-Cal managed care two-plan model in Fresno County. In February of 1998, the Roundtables became a monthly occurrence, thanks to a grant from The California Endowment, as a way for public and private entities to communicate and collaborate. The Roundtables have continued to be a monthly tradition with more recent funding from The California Wellness Foundation to focus on health care access and public health. Grants have also been received from Kaiser Permanente Fresno for involvement of low-income consumers and St. Agnes Medical Center for the on-going work of the Roundtables and Action Teams. Additional funding for individual Roundtables has been made available through sponsorships from various local groups, agencies and organizations.

Previous Roundtable sponsors have included:
  • United Health Centers
  • Sequoia Community Health Foundation
  • Violence Immunization Project
  • CSUF School of Health and Human Services
  • Central California Faculty Medical Group
  • Fresno-Madera Area on Aging
  • Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center
  • Planned Parenthood Mar Monte
  • St. Agnes Medical Center

An average of 70 participants attend each Roundtable, including consumers, community based organizations, clergy, health advocates, school personnel, health care providers, government health workers, health care professionals, college students, elected officials and their representatives, local media reporters and interested individuals. Participants individually introduce themselves and make announcements over the public address system. Many participants appreciate the networking opportunities that this format provides.

One or two different themes are addressed at each Roundtable, with one or more speakers or presentations. Please see the table below for past Roundtable topics and to download notes and evaluations. Most Roundtables also include a State Legislative Update and follow-up on previous topics.

The Local Health Care Coalition invites your organization to sponsor one of the Community Health Care Roundtables. The $500 sponsorship supplements grant funding and would help cover the cost of the Roundtables. Sponsors are provided ten minutes at the Roundtable to feature their organization. They are also welcome to provide input on the theme for that month.

If you are interested in participating in the monthly Community Health Care Roundtables, please go to Contact Us to reserve space or sponsor a future Roundtable.
